St Luke's Lutheran Church

Welcome

Welcome is a wonderful word. Yet, it is difficult to improve on the welcome the apostle Paul used in many of his letters: “Grace and peace to you from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ.” Grace means God’s undeserved love in Christ. As a congregation, our sincere desire is to share the good news of God’s grace with others.

Paul said: “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction,” 2 Timothy 4:2.

Preaching the Word means preaching the whole counsel of God; not only what people want to hear, but also what they need to hear. And what they need to hear is that we are sinful by nature and saved by grace.

Our congregation is affiliated with the Church of the Lutheran Confession, a synodical body which adheres to the three great principles of the Reformation: Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone. Some would call us a conservative Lutheran church. However, terms like conservative or liberal are really irrelevant in theology. What truly matters is this: “Is a church teaching the Word of God or not?”
